Frankie N67

Holy majoley, frankie fellows – issue 67 is now on sale and it sure does have some treats in store for you! First off, each copy comes with one of two collectable art cards featuring cuteness from talented illustrator ladies Ana Albero and Ashley Goldberg. (This is on top of our regular poster-calendar-thingy, which is also quite a doozy, if we do say so ourselves.)

Second on the list of things to be excited about is frankie’s first-ever fiction special, with stories from ace young local writers Abigail Ulman, Favel Parrett, Nic Low, Ellen van Neerven and Alice Pung.

And third on the list? Everything else in the magazine, basically! We have pretty photos from the most floral-y place on Earth, a brief history of hand gestures (both rude and non-rude), and an abundance of Australian abstract art. There are motherly musings from The Grates’ Patience Hodgson, dispatches from a country that might disappear under the sea in 50 years time, and a chat with a lady who can make books by hand. There’s a bit of a sharehouse vibe going on, with three sets of flatmates chatting about what makes their house a home, and a look at a slightly more sedate flat-share in New Zealand, which houses a micro-community of three nuns. We have 15 handy and hygienic (non-drinking) uses for vodka, non-sucky cards for sucky occasions, a beginner’s guide to heavy metal, fashion inspired by the most important meal of the day, David Bowie-themed craft, one disturbing reference to The NeverEnding Story and a hipster bison. Plus all the usual laughs, art, craft, travel and design goodness. Hurrah!
